Margaux came to us from a large scale breeder in south Texas who had over 100 dachshunds. The breeder was hospitalized due to illness and the dogs were not receiving proper care. Margaux and the other dachshunds we took in from that situation were terrified and had never been socialized properly with humans. They were covered in ringworm and had every intestinal parasite imaginable. They have all been a challenge to rehabilitate and we still have several of them, but Margaux has had the most issues. She has a chronic skin problem that the vets have been unable to get a handle on. Antibiotics, anti-fungals and other meds help temporarily, but she develops sores easily and the hair along her back is very thin. She is also a submissive pee-er. This means she dribbles pee whenever you turn your attention to her, speak to her, and especially if you reach to touch her or pick her up. Usually this condition will resolve as a dog becomes more comfortable in a home, but Margaux's continues despite the fact we know she's comfortable with her fosters. The vets have run tests to check for urinary infection and everything is clear. We still believe that in the right home with a very low key atmosphere, and a loving, gentle, and patient female human (with tile floors, of course), this nervousness will subside. Margaux is so sweet and loving, and loves to give kisses. She deserves her forever home. Until she finds that special someone, Margaux would love a monthly sponsor to help with her special diet, supplements, regular vet visits, and dentals.
