Last week we received word of a breeder surrender of over 50 dachshunds near Corpus Christi, TX.  We traveled to Seguin over the weekend and were able to pull 5 for our rescue and 2 for another small rescue in San Antonio. It was only a small part of the massive rescue effort for these dogs, but we are glad we cold help with a few of them.  We are
happy to introduce them to you this week.  

The first dog we pulled from a crate in Seguin was a sweet red girl who just wanted to be held.  Her name is Melanie and she now has a spot on our Available Dogs page.  The second dog we pulled out was a beautiful chocolate lady that we named Margaux. Both these girls had various health issues like hair loss, ear infections and worms, but luckily they both tested negative for heartworms. They have now been spayed and will be making the journey to their foster home in the DFW area this weekend. 

The next crate we went to had 2 little red dapple boys huddling inside.  We thought they were litter mates because they are so close in size but upon closer inspection we realized that one was a young puppy and the other was an adult…father and son perhaps?  We named the little pup Aiden. He’s 3-4 months old and six pounds so he’s going to be a good size boy when he’s full grown. He is a gorgeous red dapple and so sweet. Again the expected ailments like worms and ear infections, but overall a healthy boy.  The older boy we named Owen. At approximately 5 years old he’s only 7 pounds!  Unfortunately, Owen tested positive for heartworms so he will have to endure treatment for that before he can be adopted.  While Aiden was scared of all the chaos, Owen was completely shut down. It was a terrible thing to see, but one that is not unfamiliar when dealing with puppy mill dogs.  Owen is in a wonderful foster home now and thanks to his foster mom and 2 dachshund foster brothers he is learning to be more comfortable in a home environment. 

With 4 dachshunds for us and the 2 we were transporting for Angel Paws we were at our limit, but my eyes kept returning to a crate full of little dapple chiweenies.  I decided to pull one out and discovered the most adorable little girl who was barely 4 pounds.  So Paisley, as we named her, became an Ordinary Miracles baby too!

We will be posting bios and updates on each new dog as we learn their personalities. They are all scared, but doing extremely well so check back soon!
